Welcome to the challenge
a message from the chief
Dear Participants and Families,
Welcome to Challenge 2025! It’s a privilege to have you join us for this annual tradition which recognizes the professionalism and dedication of our Officers and Transportation Inspectors. The New Mexico State Police continues to face each new challenge with strength, adaptability, and pride—and this competition is a testament to that spirit.
Challenge 2025 is designed to test your technical knowledge, attention to detail, and field expertise in commercial-vehicle inspections. It’s the result of months of careful planning and preparation, and I have every confidence that each of you will rise to the occasion. The highest-scoring participants will go on to represent New Mexico at the North American Inspectors Championship (NAIC) this August.
The work you do is vital—not only to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau but to the mission of the entire New Mexico State Police. Your efforts on the front lines ensure our highways remain safe, our regulations are enforced with integrity, and that dangerous or unsafe operations are addressed swiftly and professionally. Simply put, we could not accomplish our public-safety goals without your commitment.
I’d also like to extend our appreciation to the sponsors who continue to support this event year after year. If you see them during the competition, please take a moment to thank them for helping make this event a success.
Finally, a special thank-you to Director Johnny Johnson and the New Mexico Trucking Association for their partnership and continued support of this important event.
Thank you again for all that you do. Your hard work, dedication, and professionalism reflect the very best of what the New Mexico State Police stands for. Best of luck during the competition!
Sincerely,

Chief of New Mexico State Police
